As a Membership Association, the IWPPA strives to achieve the following:

• Representation of a significant part of the independent sector of waste paper merchants
• Promote and widen the use of recovered paper both within the UK and other world markets
• Promote improved Health and Safety standards in the industry sector
• A commitment to appropriate training and education
• A broad based membership for all sizes of company across the United Kingdom and beyond
• Responsiveness to member's views, requirements and business interests
• An Association Council representing these companies, and active on behalf of all members
• Proactivity in shaping policies and initiatives which benefit the sector
• Monitoring of, and reaction to government legislation affecting the sector
• A planned approach to industry
• A commitment to best management policies
• A professional approach able to communicate and negotiate at senior level
• Appropriate resourcing for its administrative centre - the Daventry Secretariat
• A commitment to quality products and services to, and on behalf of its members
• Hold regular General Meetings providing a forum for both discussion and exchange of views, and for appropriate industry related presentations
• A local focus with regular meetings for regional groups
• Promotion of co-operation within the sector, and with related organisations at commercial and political levels
• Awareness of technical advances and applications
• The operation of effective group purchasing schemes across a range of goods and services for the benefit of members
• The collation and dissemination of appropriate industry trade information
